Thank you for choosing MovieZ (referred to as "the App," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
By using MovieZ, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
MovieZ can be used without an account for browsing movies and TV shows. Some features — such as your personal Library / Watchlist — require you to sign in. Depending on how you use the app, we may collect the following information:
a) Information you provide
- Account information (only if you sign in): When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, profile picture, and a unique user ID from your Google account, via our authentication provider (Supabase Auth).
- Library / Watchlist data: Movies and TV shows you save, episodes and seasons you mark as watched, and the dates you watched them. This is linked to your account so it can sync across your devices.
b) Information collected automatically
- Device & app data: Device type, operating system and version, app version, language, and general app usage events.
- Diagnostic data: Crash reports and performance metrics.
- Advertising identifiers: Provided by your device, used by ad networks (see Section 5).
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as phone numbers, addresses, or financial details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide core features such as browsing, search, recommendations, and trailers.
- Authenticate you and securely store your Library / Watchlist.
- Sync your watchlist and watched-episode history across your devices.
- Improve app performance, fix bugs, and understand how features are used (in aggregate).
- Display advertisements that help keep MovieZ free.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Permissions
To provide its features, MovieZ may request the following permissions:
- Internet access: Required to load movie and TV data, images, trailers, ads, and to sync your library.
- Network state: Used to detect connectivity and avoid failed requests.
- Storage / cache access (where applicable): Used to cache images and data for faster loading and reduced data usage.
These permissions are used strictly to provide app functionality.
4. Authentication & Library Storage (Supabase)
MovieZ uses Supabase (provided by Supabase, Inc.) for:
- Authentication via Google Sign-In.
- Storing your watchlist and episode-watched history in a secure database, linked to your account.
When you sign in:
- We store your Supabase user ID, email, and basic Google profile information (name, avatar URL).
- Your watchlist data is associated with this account so it persists across reinstalls and devices.
You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen. If you want your account and library data permanently deleted, contact us using the email in Section 12 — we will delete your account and associated watchlist data within a reasonable time frame.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
To support the free version of MovieZ, we have integrated Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use:
- Advertising identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID, IDFA on iOS).
- IP address.
- Approximate location derived from IP address.
- Mobile network and device information.
- Interaction data with ads shown in the app.
This data is used by Google to deliver and measure advertisements, including personalized ads where permitted by you and applicable law.
We do not have direct control over the data collected by AdMob. For more information, please refer to the Google AdMob & Ads Privacy Policy.
On iOS, MovieZ honors your App Tracking Transparency choice. On Android, you can reset or limit your advertising ID via your device settings.
6. Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
MovieZ uses Firebase Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand how users interact with the app. Firebase Analytics may collect:
- Anonymized user interactions and screen views.
- Session durations.
- Crash reports.
- Device, OS, and app version details.

7. Third-Party Services
MovieZ integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
- The Movie Database (TMDB): Source of movie/TV metadata, images, ratings, and recommendations. TMDB Terms · Privacy
- JustWatch: "Where to watch" streaming provider data shown in the app, sourced via TMDB. JustWatch Privacy

- Google Sign-In: For authentication. Google Privacy

- Google AdMob: Advertisements (see Section 5).
- Firebase Analytics: Usage analytics (see Section 6).
We recommend reviewing these providers' policies to understand how they handle your information.
8. Data Security & Retention
- We rely on industry-standard security measures provided by our hosting providers (Supabase, Google) including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls.
- Library data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you sign out, your data remains tied to your account and reappears the next time you sign in.
- Account deletion: contact us at the email below to permanently remove your account and watchlist.
- We retain crash and analytics data only for as long as needed to diagnose issues and improve the app.
9. Children's Privacy
MovieZ is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA, including the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct or update your information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Opt out of personalized ads via your device settings.
